People behind the Winery

Mario Moreno, responsible for our Splitting Area

Mario Moreno is responsible for our Splitting Area. He was born in Mendoza and, in 2006, he began working in wineries located at his birthplace, “I even worked on one of the country’s biggest wineries”, he says, the last one before coming to Familia Schroeder.

I am a mechanical technician, but my blood drew me into this”, explains Mario to whom family is very important. He learned to really value the soil and to be passionate about working at a vineyard from his Nonna, who got to Mendoza from Italy as a child and worked in vineyards together with her siblings. Mario’s father also worked at wineries, and he taught him to “always do things right, even if nobody is watching”.

He brings a bit of his grandparents and parents to everything he does, together with the camaraderie between him and his brothers, with whom he started working in the winemaking industry.

When he was a child, he lived for a while in Patagonia because of his father’s job as a farmer. This is the reason why he believes working with us was part of his destiny, “because I also have Patagonia running through my veins”. He saw an ad in a newspaper and was up for the challenge. “I was able to visit the winery and get to know its people before getting the job and was drawn in by the proposition”.

Working at the winery is part of his growth and he keeps on learning. His professionalism, humility, and generosity, when it comes to teaching and giving each member of his team their own space, make our winery grow, both professionally and personally.
