A story behind a wine

H. Schroeder

H. Schroeder, the high-end sparkling wines line our winery launched to honor our founder at the end of October 2017 includes three labels: Brut Nature, Extra Brut and Brut Rosé.

Herman Heinz Teodoro Schroeder, son of German immigrants who were pioneers in Patagonia, was born in Cipolletti, province of Río Negro. He studied Medicine in Córdoba, and returned later to his native region, where he practiced as a doctor. Besides, he was a tireless entrepreneur who started several companies in the same area. He had four sons: Juan Carlos, Roberto, Alejandro and Luis Mario.

Aiming to diversify the family businesses, Herman decided to invest, together with his sons, in vineyards at San Patricio del Chañar, an area located 20 km away from Contralmirante Cordero, where the immigrant grandfather had had a chacra with vineyards between 1940 and 1945. A land that, eons ago, had been a cradle of dinosaurs. In 2001, the Schroeders began to plant vines on 120 hectares on the northern slope of the Valley of the Neuquén River. So it was that the family could make true the old, greatly desired project of making wine.

Just a few months after its launching, in 2018 the H. Schroeder line obtained the 3 only medals awarded to sparkling wines from Argentina at the Effervescents du Monde competition, a contest specialized in sparkling wines from all over the world held in France every year. The H. Schroeder Extra Brut, ranked among the top 10, and received a Gold Medal.
